Sprint has announced that the new HTC Evo 4G phone will be released on June 4, 2010. I’m excited about this for a number of reasons. The first is that this phone will provide users 4G access on their phone, and has the capability to become a mobile hotspot. What this means is that when you enable this option, you will be able to connect your wi-fi enabled device to your phone and access the internet. Your wi-fi enabled device may be your laptop, iPad, or even your Nintendo DS. Instead of subscribing to a plan for a mobile aircard for your laptop and a data plan for your 3G iPad, you can use your phone as a single point of connectivity. This phone also provides an HDMI output so you can display images to your flat screen TV, and also provides 2 cameras. There are some new fees for the 4G and hotspot access, but still seem reasonable for what this phone will offer. I’ll provide more updates as the release date gets closer and I’m able to get my hands on one.
